Toothbrushes
● Any electric toothbrush will be more efficient than manual hand brush.
● Any brush should be soft bristles
● Recommended to brush for 2 minutes – twice a day.
● Toothbrushes/heads should be replaced between every 3-6 months
○ Bacteria accumulates on head and bristles weaken
Floss
● Preferably a waxed floss.
● Glide floss does not have much texture, it is like trying to wash oil off a pan with the soft side of a sponge.
● Recommended: 1x/ day – irrelevant as to when but best in the evenings before bed
Water Pik
● Like a power wash for your house
● Easier to use than flossing. Although takes practice to use. May spray some water at first but eventually you get the hang of it.
● Can replace flossing
● Recommended to use 1x/day (at night is best)
● Must use on both inside and outsides of teeth. ideally used for about 60-90 seconds
Mouth Rinses
While mouth rinses have some benefits to it, please avoid any mouthwash with alcohol as this dries the mouth and kills the good bacteria as well.
● A tincture with many different healing oils to help support gum health
DIY mix
● 1/2 tsp of baking soda (neutralizes pH)
● 1-2 drops of essential oil of choice (anti-bacterial/anti-fungal)
○ Tea tree oil
○ Oregano oil
○ Clove oil
○ Myrrh oil
● 1/2 tsp of sea salt (help gums heal)
● 1/2 cup of water
● You can also dilute hydrogen peroxide as a mouth rinse or in waterpik to help cleanse the mouth *only use 2-3x/ week as it will kill the good bacteria
